Information
The Associated Students of Boise State University (ASBSU) provides FREE ATTORNEY CONSULTATIONS with a local private lawyer for most legal problems you may have. This service is available to all eligible students of BSU.
Topics eligible for discussions include the following:
- Landlord/Tenant problems
- Small claims court
- Divorce/Family Law
- Child Custody/Child Support
- DUI/Criminal
- Collection & Debt Problems
- Wills
- Insurance claims
- Automobile accidents/Personal Injury
- Guardianship
- Probate
- Adoptions/Name change
- Workman’s Compensation Claims
Attorneys
When an appointment is scheduled, students will meet with one of two attorneys:
Margaret M. Lezamiz
Margaret has been a licensed practicing attorney in the State of Idaho since being admitted to the bar in 1983.
John T. Schroeder
John has been a licensed practicing attorney in the State of Idaho since being admitted to the bar in 1981.
Together, they are the attorneys of Schroeder & Lezamiz Law Offices LLP, Boise, ID. This has been an established law firm in Boise, Idaho for nearly 25 years.
Margaret and John are licensed to practice in all state courts in Idaho, including the:
- Idaho Supreme Court
- Idaho Court of Appeals
- State of Idaho Industrial Commission
- United States Federal District Court
- United States Bankruptcy Court
- and the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit
Eligibility
To be eligible to utilize this service, you must be a currently enrolled student in the semester that the appointment occurs. Students will be asked for their student id numbers to verify each student status prior to an appointment being made.
At the time of the appointment, students may be asked to show their Student ID for verification. Please make sure you bring proper identification with you for your appointment.
Faculty and staff are NOT eligible to utilize this service.
Scheduling an Appointment
An attorney is available every Monday and Thursday through the Fall and Spring semesters from 9:00am to 2:00 p.m. by appointment only. Walk-in appointments are not accepted
If you wish to make an appointment, please call the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities at 426-1527. The initial appointment will be for thirty minutes. Future, follow-up appointments can be scheduled as needed.
Summer Hours
ASBSU Student Legal Advisory Services are not available during the summer semester. The attorney is available during:
Fall Semester
The attorney will be available starting at the end of August (the week school begins) until early December (the last week before finals)
Spring Semester
The attorney will be available starting mid-January (the week school begins) until early May (the last week before finals)
Location
The OSRR is located in Room C103, University Suites, on the south side of University Drive across from the Brady Garage in Building C. Please use the south side entrance of the building.
